Oasis Market - Allergy Free Shopping
Date
December 2023
This was my Senior Graphic Design Capstone Project. For my Project, I designed a Supermarket chain specializing entirely in serving allergen-free products. The inspiration for this stems from my personal experience as someone who's had a dairy allergy his whole life. As a child, I always dreamed of a place to eat anything I wanted without worrying about an allergic reaction. We've gotten close with places like Whole Foods, but I wanted to see if I could push the idea further.
I decided to name my supermarket "Oasis Market," symbolizing that it is a safe place, a paradise for people with allergies. I designed alternate versions of the logo, taking some inspiration from the Whole Foods logo designs. Colors were inspired by a fellow student who said blue and orange symbolized allergies. The logo also features a graphic symbolizing a sandy field against a blue sky, again tying back to the oasis theme.
Additionally, I designed little graphics that I've dubbed "AO Logos." These are designed to be placed on each product, denoting which allergy they are safe from. Each has a unique illustration that relates to the allergen. I also designed aisle banners and signs to note what can be found within an aisle. The banners are uniquely color-coded to each allergen; these colors carry over to other design aspects.
In addition to the Market logo, I decided to create an in-store brand since many other supermarkets have something similar, like Whole Foods 365. I named my in-store brand "Haven," as a synonym for oasis. I used yellow and turquoise to create a similar color contrast to blue and orange. The design includes an arch meant to symbolize a sunset, meaning safety and comfort.
With my in-store logo, I made a couple of mockups for food items you could find in Oasis Market. These include almond milk, chickpea butter, brown rice pasta, plant butter, vegan shrimp, omega 3 supplements, brown rice bread, and tree nut-free granola bars.
